A 41-year-old man, Abdulfatai Olagunju, was charged by police in the District Court in Isolo, Lagos, for stealing a neighbour's goat.
Olagunju is accused of stealing in the dark after feeding a goat a substance that stopped it from screaming.
Prosecutor Inspector M. Solomon said the goat's owner, Murphy Chinedu, noticed his goat was missing and raised the alarm, leading to the defendant's arrest.
However, despite Olagunju denying the theft, he was traced back to his home. The incident, which took place at Kedeibu Estate in the Ijegun area of Lagos, was reported to the Iseri-Oshun police station, resulting in the arrest of the suspect.
When questioned, Olagunju claimed he bought a goat he found on his property in the market to celebrate Salah.
Judge O.I. Williams granted him 100,000 naira bail with the same amount and adjourned him until August 24.
