A boy who was found alone and covered in blood during the July 4 shooting in Highland Park has been orphaned by the carnage.

Aiden McCarthy was carried away from his father's men in the attack in suburban Chicago that killed seven and wounded 46.

Strangers took him away and he was eventually placed in the care of his grandparents Misha and Nina Levebeg.

Yesterday, July 5, the boy's parents, Kevin McCarthy, 37, and Irina McCarthy, 35, were killed during the July 4 parade.

Since then, more than $1,850,000 has been raised through the GoFundMe page to help Aiden's family "raise, nurture and support" him.

Aiden was found by Lauren Silva, 38, and her boyfriend after they heard gunshots while going to breakfast at Walker Bros restaurant.

Silva told The Daily Beast that they were coming out of a parking lot a few blocks from the massacre when the shooting began.

"As soon as we opened the door and went upstairs, we heard... bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang," she said. It sounded like someone was knocking on the glass door. "

Silva ran towards the injured with her boyfriend and his son.

"My friend gave me this little boy and said he was under the father who was shot in the leg," she said.

They were trying to stop the bleeding, so I took the boy downstairs to the garage. "

She said Aiden was wearing a shoe and had blood on his socks. Once in the garage, she managed to wash the blood off him and clean up his scratches.

Sylvia later gave Aiden to hide in the garage with the family, who took him to hospital and later handed him over to police.

Dana Ruder Ring, who cared for Aiden until 8 p.m. local time, posted the original photo of the boy to identify him, according to Fox 32 in Chicago.

The other four victims are Katherine Goldstein, 64; Jacqueline Sondheim, 63; Stephen Strauss, 88; and Nicholas Toledo-Sarah, 78 gossa.

The musician, dubbed the "Wake Up Rapper," was arrested after a brief police chase. He is accused of shooting the crowd from the roof about 10 minutes after the Independence Day parade began.

Investigators said Cremo, 21, planned the attack for weeks and was later found to be questioned by police after threatening to "kill everyone" in his home in 2019.

So far this year, there have been 313 mass shootings in the United States, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
