Gunmen reportedly kidnapped 10 officers from the Nasarawa State Police Command who had returned from a polling mission in Osun.
A source told the Guardian that on Sunday, July 17, 2022, police were kidnapped in Obajana, Kogi.
The source said;
“On July 17, 2022, at approximately 11:05 a.m., Obajana Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received information that gunfire was heard on New By-Pass Road near PTI Obajana Trailer Park. DPO immediately mobilized the patrol to arrive At the scene, where they encountered an 18-seater white passenger car with registration number GWA 295 YR, driven by Usman Abdullah and carrying six passengers.
The seven, who identified themselves as officers from the Nasarawa State Police Command, returned from the Osun gubernatorial election. They said their vehicle had a mechanical problem and as they tried to fix it, gunmen emerged from the bushes and kidnapped 10 police officers. "
An anti-kidnapping squad had reportedly been deployed to the area to track the criminals.
