Eight passengers in Yenagoa bound stinkpots
have been kidnapped by rovers along Brass- Yenagoa aqueducts in Bayelsa State.
About 15 passengers were on board the boat and it was also learnt that they were returning from a burial they had attended over the weekend.
Eight of the passengers were kidnapped a whisked into the creeks, while seven were freed. Chairman, Maritime Workers Union in Brass Original Government Area,Mr. Daniel Biodoumoye, who verified the attack, said;
“ The rovers interdicted the 200 steed power machine boat close to a rice ranch and fled off with eight of the 15 passengers. ”
Biodumoye also revealed that a combined deliverance platoon of marine police, members of the union and others saved the seven lucky passengers who were abandoned by the rovers.
Police spokesperson in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat also verified the attack, adding that they ’ve increased trouble to deliver the kidnapped victims and arrest the lawbreakers.
