Chelsea and Inter Milan have agreed to loan Lukaku to Italy.
According to The Athletic, Inter Milan will pay 8 million euros plus additional fees to temporarily secure Lukaku's services until the 2022-2023 season.
The Belgium international is expected to undergo a medical next week before returning to San Siro on loan next season.
The paperwork for the deal is still being finalized, but Inter have no option or commitment to buy Lukaku following his loan spell in Serie A.
Chelsea are said to be reluctant to let the striker go for a lower price after paying £98.5m for his return at Stamford Bridge. But Lukaku, who is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2026, will return after the 2022-23 season.
Chelsea paid Inter Milan £97.5m to sign Lukaku last summer, but the Belgian has only scored eight Premier League goals in 26 appearances.
